That was very informative. A MUST view whether you are a complete beginner or seasoned. Good overview. I could aways wish for more detail but that could be in another take.

Far easier than I would have ever thought...

Good vid. but I got to point out NOT to do this kind of work with the magazine vise block like he used. I don't know how his barrel nut came off so easy, it's certainly not typical, but there is a risk of damage torquing on it unsupported like that. For a barrel change, upper receiver vise blocks should be used as a minimum.

Thanks on that, my guess is he is doing a lot with his weapons and as a result the bbl my have been on and off several times. Like you I noticed how little torque it needed.

That said do you use any lube on the bbl when you install? If so what kind, such as Hi-temp etc?

I use mobil 1 synthetic grease or lithium grease, whichever is in reach when I realize I need grease. You should not be seeing temps high enough for anything high temp, unless you got full auto and shoot hotter than cherry red. I use the mobil 1 to seal exhaust manifolds instead of gaskets. When the manifolds come off, they still have a slick greasy varnish to them and on the heads, so it can handle at least that much abuse.

Not to be argumentative with those who like the video,.....but,
there is a great deal wrong with that video!

- The M1A he showed had a Springfield mount. He stated the rifle was not very accurate. Those mounts are known to loosen and shift.
- Springfield Gen 3 scope,......again, not great for accurate work.
- Securing the action with a magwell block
- Removes flash hider without barrel block
- States to use anti-seize
- Uses a hammer on the multi tool

Just a ton wrong with this......... Can not recommend this video for anyone!
About as wrong as three boys in a sleeping bag!

Good points made, but some of his "errors" are so great, that it could cost a novice a crap load of money when damaging a lower ot having a upper receiver fail a few years down the road due to corrosion from using graphite anti seize.

Not tryin to nit pick so much, just trying to identify he is passing along a CRAP LOAD of very poor info!
