I had an FFL and worked gun shows back in the'80s. If I learned one thing it's that there are experts at every show who know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the exact firearm and cartridge you should use for everything from rats to mastodons. They may not agree (at all!), but they are very sure of themselves. Most of these self-styled experts have never handled, much less shot, the weapon or cartridge they are dissing.
My daughter needs a deer rifle, so I've been thinking about picking up another 10. It might be an "A" 10 (waffle mags are pretty cool).
Do any of y'all know where I can get one in pink with a "Hello Kitty" stock?
I was surprised by Armalite deciding to make the AR-10A again. I'm not displeased, just surprised. Since I have a "B" and several mags it will have no effect on me one way or the other. Unless they drop the "B" product line. Then I'll be unhappy.
Checking Armalite's AR-10 page I see the .338 Federal rifle and the A4 black carbine are the only thing in stock. My seller doesn't have anything except .243 and .338 rifles. So I guess they're not having any trouble selling the B version.
Charlie (didn't see a Hello Kitty version either )
There is a video posted somewhere around here....of the shot show announcement.
I personally freaked when I heard this...OMG  I thought...but now I understand the reason behind it...have to keep things even on the Field...
There might be something as far as an upgrade kit for us B owners in the future but that is not written in stone yet...
As long as Mark and ArmaLite stand behind and continue to support the B models....I will keep mine the way it is...who knows, might just buy another one just for the hell of it....
I wonder how far through the models they are implementing this...
You can never have to many...

Unless the whole production crew went on vacation this month it appears not to have affected sales. There ain't squat in stock at Armalite or Bud's!
C'mon guys, build some more guns! My girl needs a new deer rifle, and dad knows the chance you take if you buy one at the last minute and hope it arrives on time.
Charlie (she is still hoping for one in "Hello Kitty" trim
There was a big discussion on AR15.com about this when Armalite made the announcement. First, you just can't buy another lower to start using the Pmags. The upper had to be redesigned also. The receivers are not compatible. Second, the reason the Armalite mags is based on the M-14 mag is Armalite introduced the AR-10 during the Clinton gun ban and had to find a high capacity magazine they could use and modify. Third, Mark Westrom has made a commitment to those of us who have the "B" models that they will always be there for us. The "A" models aren't replacing the "B" models. They will be another product line. Kind of like GMC and Chevy pickups. Built on the same line but different.

I may have mentioned that my daughter wants an AR-10, so I've been watching Bud's. Yesterday (Friday) their website indicated the 10BNMF was back in stock. So dad put one in the cart, and it's on the way.
I don't think this is the end of the AR-10. This 10BNMF will be the third AR-10 we've bought in 3 years. I thought about getting a Remington 700 SPF Tac because it's cool too, but why would I want a 1 MOA bolt gun over a 0.5 MOA semi? I don't know either.
Charlie (is gonna put a "Hello Kitty" sticker on the buttstock )
