New Book Advocates Becoming a Marauder if TSHTF

Even though the pseudonymous author of the new book Doomsday Marauders is clearly a terrible person, I think it’s great that this book is out there. What is it? It’s basically a how-to manual for turning yourself into a member of one of those roving gangs of bad guys who pop up in every work of apocalyptic fiction–whether they’re the wasteland raiders from Mad Max or the Fallout video game series, or more recently the “Claimers” on The Walking Dead.

From the website:

Prepping is not the answer. Sure, you need to have some supplies on hand to get going, but the only real way to keep living, and thriving, is by looking for what you need and then taking it. Everybody else out there will be doing, or trying, the same thing. I’ll show you how- Why me? Because I’m the real thing, the original Marauder- Read “About Me” if you’re serious at all about this subject, or if you have any doubt…

I’m putting everything you need to know out there and up front. My book shows you how you might survive, even thrive after the Fall. There’s only one way, by being a Marauder. Throughout this website I begin to describe what you will face, how you should handle it, and what you will need to do it. My book, of course, goes into greater detail. This doesn’t mean just grabbing a gun and ripping off those idiots on “Doomsday Preppers,” or even a simple challenging of the significantly more dangerous, mindless bands of raiders and looters taking stuff and attacking at gunpoint, as I encountered in Liberia and Sierra Leone. I’m talking about professional, systematic and organized operations, many occurring simultaneously, designed to take from others what you need, when you need it. Does this sound harsh to you? Then wake the hell up! In that new world out there they will be coming for you, make no mistake. They will be coming for you and they will find you. They will shoot your dog. They will brutally rape your wife and your daughters. They will burn down your home. They will kill you. You want that? You think because you bought an AR-15 and a 9mm that you can actually stop them?

I have had an interest in survival all my life and have spent a lot of time in the outback not even counting my time in the field as a Infantry soldier. Its just been a subject that interested me, even as a kid.

This 'marauder' (also called 'Raider' mentality is full of crap. I will grant that homesteads that are remote and without good defense are in danger of becoming casualties.

In all my years on various survival forums I can sum it all up in one word: FAIL. Where the failure comes from is the near total lack of understanding the how and why of sustainable success. In spite of the claims by the writer history has NOT treated raiders well at all, the simple reason is LOGISTICS. We have the most powerful and successful military in the world and the foundation is logistics. As a war fighter as long as I have beans and bullets I can stay in the fight and win. (NOT saying tactics do not count, but the best tactical plan fails if the soldier does not beans and bullets).

As for raiding the distant farm house one faces the problem rather quickly that as you do so, the farm houses get further and further away. Whether you travel by Caddy Escalade or on foot it takes fuel, and if you can still pull into the local gas station then you are not in a SHTF situation.

Lets just for example purposes that a raider gang of thugs is say 10 personnel deep. The energy to get there has to be replaced...this means beans, bullets, fuel, etc. Enough to replenish what has been used and more than enough to get you to the next farm house. Initially they will be successful because they will work close in. But burning, looting and killing, does not replace the farm house, so they will have to move further out each time. Then there is the human loss factor. Raiders will die and get injured in the process, so attrition will take its toll.

History does not treat raiders very well in spite of the fantasy world of the writer...mostly a smoke filled world that will only come to reality when his supply dries up...

I just love these guys, trying to make a buck on an Apocalyptic event that will likely never happen they way they portray.

Granted, it could be a pretty tough world out there at some point in time, and a lot of people could die, eventually groups will come together for their mutual benefit including defense.

I agree with your beans and bullets assessment, once the raider is out of them, they will turn on each other. Only those that group together to produce the beans and bullets and defend them will ultimately survive the worst case scenario.

History says so.

Agree with you Cowboy and RW. Statistics just are not in Marauders favor. No hospitals for wounded, if you take 10% Casulties at each encounter, after a month your marauding force is down to 1 or 2 Marauders. Plus if they meet an effective defense, history has shown they will need a 2 to 3 to one superiority to be consistently successful. It just does not add up. Liberia and Sierra Leone, give me a break!

You are right Sisco, but this guy will sell a million books to the keyboard raiders who fantasize about being some marauder.

Movies portray fun and a Robin Hood viewpoint.

I guess I'll just have to be happy putting a .308 in the heads of 3 of them first.

Maybe I'll just write a book, as a former Green Beret Seal Ranger, decorated of course.

Good idea. Might as well mention my CIA experience too along with my stint in the British Secret Service. LOL

I'd be hoping for a steady supply of these "marauders" for their supplies. My range cards are all made out and confirmed with multiple weapons.
Come and take! :usa:
