Neither, just a thought provoking discussion, in the final analysis its your call to make.
What often happens is the masses who are followers simply wade into and follow never looking to their left or right to validate the premise. It happens in every thing you can imagine.
Yep, the ol' keep'n up with the Jones's syndrome! I kind of like it, let everyone else try it out and either validate it or work the bugs out before I take the jump.
Never having shot or owned a 300 Blackout, my opinions have been formed by the experience of others, so take them with a large grain of salt. Impressions: SOC is right about the case issue, and the fact you dont need a different BCG and magazine. You want better than 7.62x39 performance, all you need is a rebarreled upper, and use everything else out of your AR15. Would I go out of my way to buy a rifle specifically chambered for 300 Blackout? Nope. I would get a 260 Remington AR10 or a 6.5 Grendel instead. Or just buy more ammo for my 7.62x51. If I was into SBR's or AR pistols, I might change my mind, or if I was using a can, which I currently am not. I get the feeling the 300 BOut is more special purpose, not multi purpose.

Good sumary and I am with you on the .260/6.5 world.
While it may seem like just another fade I think its here to stay. For several reasons, 1) reloading components abound, 2) And think of the millions of ar15 owners out there that can mod there current platform for next to nothing, 3) we are just now beginning to see the fruits of many creative peoples ideas for this cartridge, subsonic, jacketed HP, SBR. Think of it as the next power level above MP5 for home defense. If the name of the game is close in this cartridge has the upper hand over a lot of the market. Long live the AR , long live the 300BO
I too had read an article on the .300 B.O. without much of an impression of the round, now though, with a bit more infurmashun, I can see how that round could be mighty useful in the proper circumstances.
