I am 11b, straight leg, and camped and hiked since I was a kid.
US Army Rucksack, Med, no frame for most outings, if you are a combat soldier with a avg carry weight of 159 lbs of gear then the ruck with frame is the answer.
Tried them all, thick and thin, rich and poor, REI and LLBean and I keep going back to the US issue for ruggedness, long lasting, overall comfort and the ability to haul the load when few others can or will.

+1. That's what we use when we've got to move a lot of stuff in a hurry. Got the Large Alice pack too (with frame), but seldom have that much to haul over any distance.

Kifaru is the heat. The only downsides besides cost is that they're a pretty small outfit, so wait times for a particular bag can be pretty long if they don't have one in stock.
REI today: This is a top of the line rig, lots of features, felt good one and the Army would do well to look at this stuff and integrate some of the attributes...that said and after close inspection there is not way this has the chops to take the kind of punishment in USA issue 1@ Ruck. I suspect it would someone a very long time, its WELL made. But it has a price tag to it...
