Looking for a good pack

I'm looking for suggestions for a good pack. Something somewhere in between a day pack and an assault pack. I've got a few of each, and they are either too bulky or not quite big enough. Also, got to have 2 shoulder straps. I've tried the maxpedition things with the single strap and while they are handy for short distance just walking around, they don't hike well and they suck at running almost as bad as I do.

Thanks!

I have done a lot of backpacking in my youth, and one I really like is the Kelty Redwing. It comes in two sizes, has a good internal frame system, and 3100 cubic inches of space. They also hav e a 2650 cubic inch size. My family has both. Cost at campmor, $89.00 don't think it comes in camo, however.
Check it out.

Thanks! That is a good looking pack, A little larger than I'm looking for but I'm thinking it's going on my list anyway. I like that it's not camo, makes it what I call civy camo.

I also have a Kelty Redwing, I think it's the 50 liter in black. It's a great small pack. My girlfriend has used it on multiple hikes and loves it. I haven't had a chance to use it yet because when we camp I'm the pack mule and carry a larger bag, a Kelty Lakota 65 liter. The Redwing seems like a great pack so far and it has good number of external pockets, something I wish the Lakota had more of. The waste straps can be tucked behind the lower back pad for those days when you don't have it loaded to the brim.

What size are you looking for? What're you trying to stuff in it?

www.specialtydefense.com Style 4095 if still available. Initially sold as US Army assault packs in the form I have them-most of my other bags have gone to the basement since I bought those surplus. Many features and approx. the size you are describing.

Also, check out the bags from Kifaru and Arcteryx. They aren't cheap, but they're built to last. I have a 15 year old Arcteryx Bora 90 that I still use for backpacking. Rides as good now as it did when I bought it new.

And Kifarus are so modular that it's sick.

I always buy the kids good quality back packs for school, and I use whatever they discard at the end of the year. Got about half a dozen that I use to carry music and shooting gear. They're cast-offs, so the price is zero, and they're great urban camo.
