Now there are States that are trying to flex their 10th amendment rights, making it lawful to produce and sell various weapons / DDs within the state, for sale only within the state, trying to get around the over expansive use of commerce clause we have today (which in all right should be overridden by amendment 2 in terms of arms prohibitions anyway, but i digress).
Even in such a case as a state making it lawful for it's citizens to produce their own suppressors, the Federal Government will likely move to assert it's authority (constitutional or not) and "make examples of" the first persons to operate under the state law (much the same as the Fed is now cracking down on Californians for violations of the Controlled Substances Act).
Just stopped in to see what is up...UM.. To my last information...it is "ILLEGAL" to make any device to "suppress or silence" any Fire Arm...according to ATF....so be warned....in other words...DON'T GET CAUGHT WITH IT...OR YOU ARE IN DEEP SH@T....
but on a lighter note...
 :pinch:   here is something you might find worth watching....
MI allows them now and a silencer and suppressor are the same thing and both are not legal anywhere in the US without BATFE forms approved.
ATF considers any device that lowers your firearms report by a very small level (1 to 3 db if my memory is right) These tests are done with standards too so keep that in mind....
hope that helped a bit,
G
P.S. I wish my local fish hut didn't go out of business!!!
Contact BATF. Fill out a FORM 1 and follow the instructions. You'll need fingerprint cards, Sheriff signature, etc. Send all of it back to BATF with $200, then wait for the approval.
Once you get your tax stamp, start building!
Make sure your State allows suppressors before going through all this.
I don't really know about all of the laws pertaining to the manufacture of a suppressor, but my advise is this...just purchase a suppressor rated for .338-.338 cans are built to withstand the pressure of the magnum rounds like the Lapua so the .338 Federal shouldn't pose any issues.

With that tax stamp, is a person allowed to own a full auto, or, just a suppressor ??? Like a "One item" per $200.00 or does it open a person to be allowed any and all restricted items in the BATFs restricted list ????
