if i bought a riser to raise this scope 1 inch what disadvantage will it give me?
the reason is i have to tilt my head nearly 90* to get my eye in line with the scope, and it kinda makes me dizzy, and when shooting lot of round a sore neck
if this is something that i should learn to live with I can do that, I never really had experience as a kid with scoped rifles. My grandpa had them all and he passed (at 55 ) before we really ever got to have a man to man talk or him teaching me how to fire, he had a very nice left handed 270 and when he passed my step grandma sold all his stuff and didn't offer anything to us .
When your shooting your body should be oriented closer to a 45 degree angle to the stock or more. Some blade there body almost perpendicular to the stock for various shooting positions. The M-308 comes with a monolithic aluminum mount that is considered optimal by Nikon for this application. I would remount your scope using the supplied mount (which for ballistics programs gives you a 1.5" site height)and practice. I had my share of difficulty getting used to it but now am happy with the set up.
Thanks Lib!
It makes perfect sense now that it has been explained to me, I can't wait to put this tip to use! I don't think I'll even bring this up with my Dad, he spends hours adjusting a scope for the "perfect" eye relief, he'll argue till the cows come home before he admits he was doing it wrong all these years. He'll never buy it being explained by a woman, hot or not! :usa:

One question? How come my firearms instructors are usually geriatric foul mouthed toothless ex Marines? ( with apologies to all ex Marines out there with a full set of teeth). I got to start using different criteria when choosing my instructors.
