If you're a tech guru like me then you'll love this! For years I wanted to get Leupold or ATN to partner with Canon and build the ultimate riflescope. Never had the time to pursue it.
What I envisioned was an auto-ranging, auto-focus, auto-zoom, weather station, and ballistic computer all in one.
Well........ Tracking Point is a company that has done just that. I first saw this video back in January and for got to share it.
Check it out and let me know what you think.
At the NRA show I saw a scope/range finder combo, forgot the price now, but it was at the point that no further discussion was needed or 'nothing to see here, move on.org'.
As a tech I am surprised that we are not seeing this at a price point we can pay.
Hit the range finder button, it reads out 175 yds, spin the dial to 175, put cross hairs on subject and pull trigger...dress out.
I saw that on to, its main drawback is its big, real big, like having a log mounted on top your rifle, I think we are seeing the first entry at a acceptable price point. I would sure pass on it as I think the future for this holds smaller, lighter. cheaper and more accurate as in yardage +/- x%.
There is a market ready to EXPLODE on this and money to be made big time: Look for scope to gun dovetailing precisely. 5.56 scope to 5.56 gun like we see now somewhat in calibrated scopes. But even there we can switch them from gun to gun and just add in some Kentucky windage in most cases. But integrate the laser and now every gun suddenly become sniper grade...OHHHH BOY what till Feinstein hears about this. Look for registration on lasers, then a ban on them and who knows what else.
