Civitas Media, which owns 88 newspapers in 12 states and has more than 100 total publications, is planning on building a database of people who have concealed carry permits. The plan is to build a list state-by-state and make that information available to the public.

Civitas director of content Jim Lawitz emailed content directors, managers, and producers in a January 19 email, saying that exploring the “explosion” of conceal and carry permits in the U.S. will be one of the company’s short-term objectives.

“We are launching two enterprise projects across our newsrooms this month. The first will deal with the creeping influence of heroin in our communities. The deadly drug has quietly taken over, reaching across all age groups and eclipsing meth as the recreational drug of choice,” Lawitz began.

“The second project examines the explosion of ‘conceal and carry’ gun permits across the U.S. Through public records act requests, we will attempt to build state-by-state databases that list those who have the right to carry a concealed weapon,” Lawitz wrote in the email.

This will not end well for Civitas Media.

NRA, NAGR, and others are already preparing lawsuits and ad campaigns and have much deeper pockets than Civitas.

Of course a "computer networking specialist" could "modify" any data on Civitas servers...

On that you are right and the key words are 'Civitas Media', they too will fail. But the stars say it will end well for the anti gun crowd and they KNOW IT!. Thus they keep up the relentless attack...keep knocking, sooner or later someone will answer.

Then lets just put out the welcome mat and get this crap over with. Better to take the lead than just react, no? :usa:

I asked an old timer friend if He had a CC permit, His reply "Hell No, why would I want to get one of them things for, then they would know for certain that I am carrying, this way it keeps the wondering".

Doesn't change a thing, I would open carry all the time if it did. Just because they post anything about me doesn't mean I will curtail that particular trend ie ( he eats steak 2 nights a week) I don't see that coming to a end. I think they have a perception that concealed carry is for our benefit (they think we are afraid to open carry) Oh contraire mon coco, I don't open carry because it is field expedient not to.

I resent the invasion into our privacy-if this is true. Do we want a prospective gun thief to know this info??

Prime example of why you should pack in your own home.

I also like to park my car/s in different places within a couple blocks of my house, people who don't contact me first, never know if I'm home or not.

I work from home so most of the time I am here, or someone else is.

If there's anyway we could admit someone to the database, I'd suggest you go to your local phone book and submitting everyone's name.
