Filibuster Change a BAD Sign

They've done it, one more step in taking away Liberty. Yesterday the Senate changed the filibuster rules on Judicial appointments. The purpose is to pack the DC circuit court with Obama nominees. It may seem like a minor event but the repercussions of this new senate rule could be felt for generations to come.
The filibuster has been safeguarding the rights of the minority since the days of Caeser. The rule in the US senate had been recently strengthened in 1975. It has not been totally eliminated yet but this vote puts us on that path and saddles us with a passel of liberal judges deciding law in DC, where law is made!
Both parties have spoken strongly against this change in recent history, now they are exposed for what they really are, power hungry oligarchs of the political elite.
I say damn them all! LIBERTY FIRST! :usa:

The bad news is why the filibuster was removed. The filibuster was a tool to encourage bipartisan compromise. To do that, both sides have to talk. Nowadays in the Senate and Congress there is little in the way of talking across the aisle with members of the other party. If either party obsessively obstucts the governmental process, the filibuster allows them to freeze the wheels of government completely.. And an unspoken gentlemen's agreement not to do that over the years was broken. I was sorry to see it go, but because it just shows that no one has the courage to come to the middle and work out issues on either side of the aisle.

I believe this rule only applies to judges and not Supreme court judges so there can still be filibusters on other issues, for now. It is obvious that neither party wants the status quot changed, they like it just like it is, they divide the loot between them. When we change from democrat to republican now all we do is change who gets the bigger cut.
The main purpose behind this move is to stack the DC circuit court. This is where all of Obama's unconstitutional regulations and presidential findings get their judicial review. This essentially gives him dictatorial powers unless congress and the supremes can grow a pair or we change the parties themselves next election. It's going to get interesting now. Patriots, pay attention! :usa:

It's heartbreaking to be our ages at this point in time and watch what was, only a few short years ago, on it's way down to what it will become, dreadfully, only a few short years away if we continue on this road...

Heartbreaking to say the least... :(

I tend to disagree with the point that everyone needs to move to the middle and compromise and this has become true recently. The Democrat party controls the political discourse and they never compromise. They use the pressure of the media and arbitrary budget tricks to change the system to impose upon the people… They don’t care how they win or how many people it hurts in the process they are about garnishing more and more power. If they have to change the rules defined in the US Constitution they will. So in the past that statement may have been true and our government needed to make a conceded effort to work with each other is not true today. In fact this is why this was written into the constitution… the senate was to be set up differently than the house to ensure the law represents a larger majority. The senate is suppose to be a road block of sorts because the laws that leave this house rarely get changed once they are signed into law and should be vetted extensively not passed so you can see what is in it.

This does only apply to appointments and appellate courts and not the Supreme Court.
