too rich for my blood. I could buy two AR10's with change for ammo. Of course, does the kid really need to go to college? Hmmm?

It is a sound technology with proven benefits. Carbon fiber draws heat off the barrel very well but the flipside is that it can't take high heat soak. A few mag dumps and it will delaminate. There was an individual on barf that smoked a cf ar15 barrel pretty quick and other reports are similar around the net.
For lightweight accuracy however, carbon is at the top. It's the reason I wanted to get one.

I know nothing about these guys. proofresearch.com/

Can't believe they only offer a 1" group at 100.

Carbon fiber bbls have been around for a long time and several major and minor manuf have employed them. The really big challenge especially ion large bore is disparate expansion rates. Carbon fiber has very little, but steel has a lot and if you are firing away in the .3xx caliber then heat can rapidly become an issue. Bbl grows, carbon fiber does not...not sure that makes for a happy family.

They speak of lots of high tech materials but they don't go into any detail about how and why employed. Makes it sound like gold plating rather than real gold.

After a lot of research I found some interesting comments on line. The plethora of 'brags' that are so far over the top they are in one of two camps. 1) Fanboys and 2) those who spent their money on it and suddenly realize that was their latest 'most stupid move ever.' Scattered in amongst on various forums I did find a few legit owners and a common thread ran thru their posts...accuracy and quality, neither of which met user expectations and in fact were disappointment.

Friend of mine may well have some good insight on this. He is an avid hunter and gun collector who really stays on top of things. He may well know something and I trust his insight. He recently won the Weatherby Award and is a real stand up guy.

I did find a Pawn shop that has several for sale...when you pawn something its because you could not sell it otherwise.
