Hey Bob..... I totally agree with you......I can tell by your posts that you are a patriot......I think of all our brave service men that got hit by that crappy gun.....makes me sick. Don't misunderstand what I said above......I can not stand the crap ballistics of the AK round or or the gun for that matter. I did not have the privilege to serve in the armed forces.....but....I am the son of a highly decorated WW2 hero.....I look at his Broze Star for Bravery, Purple Heart & five main battle campaign stars almost everyday in my office.....I wish I had time to talk to you about all the great M1 Garand stories my dad told me over the years......my dad told me that General Patton felt the M1 Garand was the primary reason we overtook the German forces.....a lot of war history buffs do not know that fact. Got to love our proud gun history!!
That pic is my rather portly self in an ACU OTV from PointBlank.
In all it comes up to 38lbs.
I don't like wearing it.
I put an Orange Safety Vest over it.
I wear that when I go to public lands just in case...
I read the original post.....I had a issue similar when I first got mine...but the extractor was fried....ArmaLite replaced it totally and it has worked ever since...
well except for one bad round...but it was not the rifle....
Is it an ArmaLite....if so...remember that they stand behind there weapons...
As for break in...well...that is a matter of "Opinion"....to each their own....
I broke mine in the "match" way as the manual stated...but that was the barrel...
As for the bolt and cleaning.....Take it apart every time you shoot it....
It is not that difficult nor a problem to do...it only has 3 parts, basically,
I take mine apart every time I shoot it...and inspect it and if need be clean it...
I am very OCD about cleaning my rifles, probably to the point I over clean them...but as I was taught....A clean weapon with save your @ss when needed....
I don't use oil so to speak....I use TW25B gun grease from Mil-comm...and just a drop of the MC2500 semi oil.....the combination works great....
I actually did a video on them and disassembled my AR-10...it might help you out....

Good advice.......I now have a good idea how I need to maintain my AR 10......it is an Armalite....not another .308 platform. I am hopeful it will work flawlessly now that it has been professionally cleaned and serviced.........I hate sending guns back to the mfg.....I would think Armalite would take good care of me.....I just hate to be without the gun for weeks. You never know ......the Iranians may parachute in on us at any minute.......well.........that might be fun!!!
If it was my gun I would first take the bolt apart and check
the gas rings for ware, then check your gas block and see if it has moved and may have partly blocked the gas port on the barrel, then go from there.

You know..those are some good points...I do believe, though never happened, if the gas rings are aligned with the gaps in sequence..that would possibly cause a issue as to the other..could be also.....NICE CALL..
That is what this forum is about...
Learning from one another and also to remind us of alternatives....resolves...
Thanks for the reminder......Good show...
Great contribution.....

My specs are:
1. Accurate.
2. Reliable.
3. Hard hitting.
The AK is considered a great gun because:
1. Operator training is about nil.
2. Can be manufactured by relatively primitive machinery.
3. Will run in spite of irregular maintenance.
The AK has some great specs if you're fielding a team of third world morons. Fortunately, I am not.
Something oft forgotten is the gas tube itself. There are specialty brushes made for AR10's. We run a dry brush through our gas tubes on all of our AR10s as a matter of regular armoury maintenance twice a year. It hurts nothing, but it does keep any sort of a buildup out of the port.
