I was on a waiting list for 18 months with RRA before I got my LAR-8, believe me, they will not release anything before it's time....
(That was when they first were introduced, not during the post-election "panic buying")
As wielywilly-g stated, I'm not certain of the need, but new shooting products are always a good thing.
Now the only reason I would unload the LAR8 would be to my father. He went out & got him self 2 AR-15's in the pre-obama days. Kept preaching AR-10's to him, then after I got one, he saw the light. So now he's talking of getting himself one, so I've been entertaining the idea of selling him mine, so that I can replace it with a Armalite.
But I do want to hold on to it long enought to get my hands on the new RRA mags. One, for the looks, two for the higher capacity, and three because I like the performance of polymer mags on all the other rifle I've used them in, SKS's & mainly AR-15's.
A 30 round clip of .308's, although heavier, but is gonna be nice to have at your disposal. :side:
patients grasshopper, take a look at those groups edge shot.just because another platform has been around longer doesnt make it better.ur gonna spend more need a trigger job and hope u get a shooter.
The RRA polymer mags should be the snizzle when they come out. But I've been doing just fine with regular old FAL mags.
The Armalite can be a good gun. I've had 2 and they were both junk. But, I've got friends who have excellent ones. I guess I was just lucky!
Anyway, I went with the RRA because I like the FAL so much and had a ton of magazines lying around. It makes more sense for me to shoot the RRA, because I don't have to go out and buy different magazines. I can just take whatever I have and enjoy shooting both the RRA's and FAL's. I've had better luck with the RRA's rifles too.
I will say that if I started from scratch, and didn't have any FAL's or FAL magazines, I would probably go with Knight Armament/DPMS style. Mainly because the aftermarket parts are more plentyful, including magazines, of which you can get the Magpul magazines. The Magpul's won't work in the Armalite.
