I am new to Armalite and the AR-10T... actually about a year ago, but I am just getting around to fiddling with it. Not sure what the advantages or disadvantages are between version B and version A, but I am here to learn. Only issue I have right now is upon initial inspection, the cam pin won't come out. Anyone have to file that down? I can't think of another way to get it past the gas key.
Anyway, now that I am thinking of making this into a project, I am hoping my visits here can be productive for all of us. I will try search before I ask any more.
Thank you.

Hey, welcome PA. You'll get lots of answers here, better questions, and a better 10T experience overall. Look at joining as a member to get access to some pretty good deals on lots of stuff. Which reminds me...
I'm going to go ahead and assume that you did take the firing pin out, so that should not be the problem. It can be a tight fit getting the cam pin past the gas key, but they got it in there in the first place, so it WILL come back out. You may have to rotate the cam pin 180 degrees from its original position to be able to pull it out. I don't know why it goes in fine one way and (sometimes) has to come out the other way, but it happens. The first couple of times disassembling the bolt carrier group on my rifle were difficult. It does get easier though.
You may want to use a pair of padded vise-grips to pull the cam pin out. Be sure to put the bolt carrier in a vise with padded jaws while you are doing this. The padding will protect the finish and (more importantly) keep you from accidentally crushing anything.
That said, there's no reason that filing wouldn't work. At the same time, it's usually best to leave the parts like that the way you found them. Besides, I don't know if, or how that might effect warranty coverage. There are lots of people here who are more knowledgeable about Armalite customer service than I am, and I'm sure they'll chime in soon.
Anyway, welcome to the forum and I hope your stay here is good.
And our resident Armorer to be Lizzy shows up with an Ace...
Nice to see you again Lizzy and Hello and Welcome to you AR10TinPA... :welcome:
Very good to have you aboard Sir. Old Army Grunt here and no Guru, just an avid shooter who loves being surrounded by gurus and up and coming gurus like Lizzy.
I've never thought of sanding or filing down ANY parts on your rifle as being either good for the rifle OR your warranty so I would consider her advice to be sound and prudent.
I can't imagine why the cam pin would be giving you such trouble as long as you pulled the firing pin retainer and firing pin out, ever if you have to pad it and pry a bit with something that is also padded.
Hang with it though and when it does come out, just lube the hell out of it and run some rounds through that puppy and see how it works out.
Good luck and please let us know how it works out and what ends up working for you.
Whenever anyone has an issue, we love nothing more than seeing the problem, and then the resolution for future reference.
We've got some AWESOME people on here and absolutely review the index tab and specific category areas for research but also, feel free to ask away with anything you can't find. No one'll answer you with the smug crap we've all seen on other sites and we've got just a great bunch of people here.
Welcome again and enjoy the site... :usa:
Hey Lizzy,
How's school? Maybe we should start a thread for whenever you drop in so you can give us updates on how you are doing. I know I'd love to hear about things whenever you drop in...
This sometimes happens with mine. Rotate it just enough to clear the gas key, spray a little liquid wrench in and work it back and forth. Rotate it again to clear the gas key. Turn the BCG up side down and smack it with your palm and see if it comes out. Like Lizzie says, I assume your firing pin is already out. With use it should loosen up.
:welcome: The first few times removing the cam pin was a bear on my AR-10 as well. Just shoot the snot out of it and it will loosen up some, just some mine still takes some work.
It went it, albeit maybe not so easy, but it will come out. Just mess with it, AFTER you get it out inspection it closely, bent, scratched can be fixed.
If its bent, the a small hammer with the pin on a hard metal surface and light taps...Use a flashlight to shine behind it to see if you can see under or see a alignment issue.
Got some scratches: No problemo, you can take them out with a fine file if you have one or a brass wire wheel, its will be slow going as brass is softer than steel but you are just trying to clean up some minor scratches. Metal is malleable and subject to heat/cold and uneven forces. Your pin could well be a few 1000 ths of a inch to large...and yes I have encountered this, 3 1000 ths was enough to cause significant issues and some damage on a regular basis until I decided to mic it and discovered the problem...
