The Nikon M-308 comes with a one peice monolithic mount with 20 moa of elevation built in. I will have to wait and see how the rings will work out. Sometimes rings are good and sometimes even the good ones aren't any good , I am really picky about rings. I had a bad experience trying to work out the bugs on a hand cannon one time and since then I try to make the scope mount dynamite proof, I will even locktight everything when satisfied that I got it right. I will hand lap the rings, which reminds me I will have to mic that scope tube and get some bar stock turned to do the lapping.
I'm feelin' you. The recoil impulse on a .308 AR, while stouter than an AR15 (obviously), is a pretty smooth curve. Unlike a couple of semi-auto rifles I could name. <cough, cough> FN Mk 16/17 <cough, cough>
That said, I've seen SR25s/M110s break low quality mounts before.
