Hello Everyone, I am waiting patiently for my rifle to arrive and stumbled onto this site a couple of days ago. Needless to say I have been reading ever since. Rifle to be is a Rock River LAR-8 Varmint with 26" barrel. Purchased Ammo (1000 rds of 175gr match)and have scope already in (Nikon M-308). Just waiting ...... for the rifle. I'm vet of US Army active 86-89 Reserve 89-98, have been living the easy life and now want to get back into long range shooting for fun with sons. Look forward to talking with everyone, what a great place to find.
Welcome! Interesting that you ordered a LAR 8. I hope you have better results than I did. I ordered one last July for delivery in October, and was told in November it would be at least three months more! I ended up buying an AR10 off the shelf that I am completely happy with. I have heard rally good reports on the accuracy of RRA Varminters with the 26 inch barrel. What type of ammo did you purchase? I have had good luck with Lake City M118. But I am always looking for new ideas, especially with availability being what it is. There are some really knowledgeable people on this website so I encourage you to ask questions. I certainly do.
Roger that I have been waiting since July also, I like your avatar. I will be poking around alot in the next month or so, so many good threads to read. Ammo is Federal its kinda pricey about 1.00 per round. I don't have time to hand load so for now it will have to work.
Welcome to the sight Lib !!! :welcome: Always damn nice to see another Army vet stepping in and saying hello. There's a few of us in here - some with more time than other but all Army just the same.
Welcome to the ranks and keep us posted on your progress. Sounds like you stocked up on Ammo just in time if you've already got a grand and you're gonna wanna STAY stocked just in case prices take a damn jump on us in the near future here.
Glad to have you aboard and looking forward to seeing the pics of your new shooter.
Try DS arms.com they said that they will still take orders and are shipping as inventory becomes available. They seemed to have the best quality FN FAL mags I could find.
Mag hunting is becoming quite a sport on the internet lately Lib. I can't say it's a very enjoyable or rewarding one but the trekking will certainly help you find just a BOAT load of new sites to check out for parts later on..
