Did this for Fred. Everyone has to practice something, heres some of what I did today. I transitioned some handgun drills to my AR pistol for practice. If was a little rough at first and will need continued work. Today I had two 14 sec runs at the Farnam with the ar pistol, they where clean with good hits. I would like to get that down to 8 seconds. Will post more as I progress. Slow down, slow is smooth and smooth is fast.
This idea of mixing weapon's drills sounds like a good thing. I imagine it would help a shooter to appreciate the intended purpose of the one in hand, both strong suits and limitations.
"Slow...is fast."
Applying a racing axiom to drill work...very appropos.
Week one no errors that I caught ( anybody see any please post your not doing me any favors if you see and don't speak up) all hits where on target in the middle 8" of a IDPA silhouette target. Just brutally slow, as I said looking for 8 seconds and will continue until I get it or have diminished returns .Already changed kit around a little and am looking for a different single point sling, that's the point of training find out what really happens real world and refine your technique's and kit.
As a side not I was acutely aware of there being no one at the range at this early hour and switched my kit around prior to shooting any drills. I moved my IFAK's out of the fanny med pack and attached them both strong and weak side. You never know and why not.
Yup. Almost gotta get child-like with the creativity...the possibilities are endless.
I'll be scarin' the bejeezus out of my neighbors if they see me running around the property (two secluded, wooded acres on a slope) as I carry a load while, uh, exercising...yeah, that's it.
Toss in dry fires with elevated heart rates and breath-catching moments...
I wish I had some real property, also wish I had kept this 54 year old body in better shape.
