Kydex is fun stuff. Even have some of it holding together parts of my old bronco, RC stuff, fan mounts in my computer, the list goes on. it's like the 550 cord of plastic.
The first thing that comes to mind would be a quality brass catcher that doesn't interfere with the mounting of optics, make the weapon overly cumbersome, or cost an arm and a leg. I did have a kydex piece that served as a brass deflector. Instead of catching it in a box or a bag, it just kept it all in a pile closer by. I never quite got the attachment point worked out where I liked it. Maybe you will have better luck with the idea than I did.
I'll see if I can find it and post pics, though it is really not much to look at.
A Magazine holder that can be adjusted to different angles when attached to a molle vest. They might be out there but most I've seen are not adjustable, only fit on belts, and are real pricey.
A scope cover that will fasten to the rail, something that will really protect it, not like those flimsy cloth covers.
An AR-10 scabbard for hauling them on a 4 wheeler.

The scope cover is a good one.
It has been tried once or twice in the past but never really took off. Try a search for Hendsoldt BLITZ armor for an idea of what was. Heavy and proprietary is what killed that I believe. There was another one that was plastic but short lived as well. I think ram-line made it but was little more than a length of PVC with foam in it, that's what it looked like anyway. It was more of a slip on "universal" affair that had to be removed to make adjustments.
With 1500+ tied up in each Nightforce, a good means of protection certainly does have appeal.
I have no clue what it would take to fit each scope model but NF was what made me think of it. Guys that spend that kind of money on a scope want to keep it "pretty" even tough you could use it for a tire block! Isn't Kydex fairly tough? I figure if they can fit as many pistols as the do you should be able to fit a bunch of different scopes.
The universal covers never seem to be a good fit for anything in the universe.
The brass catcher/deflector was the first thing I thought of. If it would just guide the brass to one spot I would go for it. All the "catchers" seem to bulky.
I agree. I think Kydex would probably work just fine. If something could be worked out similar to the blitz thing, but clamped to the rail to give a good hard shell with access to the scopes controls.
hmmm...
You just might be on to something.
I am not one to carry uber-tactical gear. However, I do place mags in a range bag or ammo can. Sometimes there is a bit of dirt, debris, in the can and at the range. Have you though of mag covers? Something that could be slid on over the tip of the mags, would help prevent debris from entering and provide protection for the feed lips. Mag carriers for belt use could also be a good idea.
