They are OK, good Democrats but still far to liberal for my tastes. My guess is he is pro gun because that what it takes to be elected to office....but they are Dems...

Got an answer back from the facebook page owner on this:

"Boycott Armalite Firearms When all the craziness began and companies came out publicly telling LE they would only sell what the common citizen could own, Armalite made a public statement that stated (I'm paraphrasing) tough cookies, cops still get banned stuff. Many came out and told LE sorry. Olympic Arms was one of the first. Along with VQ, Spikes, Serbu and many others. The police loophole has the entire list. My next purchase will be from one of the companies that supports the common man. I hope yours will be too."

I am familiar with this movement; it is very controversial. Without getting too overly political about it here is my take.

The core group is simply looking for more political leverage, as they feel the NRA has not done enough lobbying to stop the gun grabbing. So, this term " the police loophole" was created by somebody who wanted to target LE as part of the problem. Problem is, in borrowing the term "loophole" from the gun grabbers ala, "gun-show loophole", the message is lost and they are making enemies within LE. To make such enemies within LE where there were none before, is not a good thing-it is more divisive than constructive. Going back to the early 90s when the NRA did so within the LE community, still has resonance with MANY LEOs today-very unfortunate.

Here are my opinions about why theirs is a kamikaze mission-some of my opinions are simply based in facts that these guys do not like:
1.) Boycotting gun manufacturers, to have them NOT sell firearms in any U.S. State which has imposed 2A limitations is oxy-moronic. (Why would I want to tell a gun company to NOT SELL firearms, within a certain boundary?)

2.) Whether they are members of the Oath Keepers or not, LE are not part of a government conspiracy to become gun grabbing units. Contrary to the Face Book message the guy has as part of his diatribe: Law Enforcement are not THE government. I do not speak for any LEOs other than myself, buy I'm sure my idea here is mostly universal: having sworn an Oath to the Constitution and my law abiding constituents, and using the authority legally granted to me has nothing to do with grabbing guns from law abiding people. That may seem obvious to many people. However, this FB message is becoming more prevalent, to make such blanket statements, that all LE are thoughtless minions who merely follow all orders without question as to morality or legality.

3.) The topic of civil discourse fits in here, though it has become an obscure art of communications these days: respect for one's political opponents' rights to voice their opinions, w/o going into bashing and other disrespectful behaviors. A lot of these guys claim to be former military, yet have no concept per the chain of command concepts, or having any respect for another opinion. I can appreciate their dissent of what has been happening in some areas, but it is not being directed by LEOs.

4.) Solution: take a look at the WI D.O.J. standards for gun crime punishment, and the follow through with sentencing. Model your state's laws by these-it's easier than anyone would believe. There is no copyright infringement on "borrowing" another State's legislation per gun crimes-just take it and give it to your Legislators for writing. Serious time is given out, without them having even pulled the trigger, but having simply held a gun in commission a crime.

Flip-side of this coin: there is a very well-known rifle maker who is on board with this kind of activism, which is bizarre to me as I believe they have government contracts. I contacted them about their activism and asked them to please explain their logic in NOT selling firearms in certain states, to certain people. The watered down response I got told me that they had not really put any thought into what they had done-it's a marketing gimmick.

Arma Lite got my order and will hopefully stay the course in these turbulent times.

Disclosure: I am former Military, and work currently in the criminal justice systems in many different ways. I am a lifelong NRA member and a multi-credentialed Instructor for them. I have contacted the NRA about this topic, feeling that they were perhaps behind it, and asking that they clear this up and make some headway in bringing gun owners together whether we are LE or not. They refused.

Splitting everyone up is how they got the last ban, the last "background check", ect, ect, ect.
I have not been impressed with the NRA's political strategy since that time. I will not travel that far with them again.
