Picked up this Alpha reciever with dust cover and forward assist for an incredible $69.95. Coupon code: "Billet". Unfortunately out of stock as of this morning. My plan is to convert an old Olympic Arms Plinker plus carbine I have to a flat top style AR. May get the tools and do it myself. My plan is to use the original barrel, BCG, Lower reciever, gas tube, block, etc.. Anybody foresee any major roadblocks?

I am not too worried about the 7075, as 1. I am not going to be beating it up in terms of wear, or volume of fire. 2. The rifle originally cost $510, so I am not going to go nuts on add ons. For me it will make it a more flexible flat top, however still with the fixed front sight. I have a shelf full of red dots to choose from as the primary sight and already have a rear BUIS to put on it. If I like it, I might do the same with my Colt NM AR 15.
