Basically it's like this,.....the older models that had the batteries mounted longitudinally suffered from the battery contacts getting weak. Every shot bounced the battery. When the contact springs got weak, the optic would momentarily lose power and shut off. the XPS with its transverse mounted battery fixed that anomaly.
I have a new EOTech XPS2 and I have to say I am impressed with it. I really like it's size and compactness. The battery life is quite good in this model and I really have nothing negative to say about it.
