I brought up this subject when I joined the site a few months back. While I am still waiting on my AR-10T to deliver....I still haven't made up my mind about which way to proceed. I'll probably do an abbreviated "break-in". Armalite doesn't help matters here with these two technical notes:

Funny that they recommend Molly lubed bullets in the second tech note.
I belong to the group of thought that molly bullets are to be avoided.
Because I'm using Frogman Man Spit....... I don't need Molly bullets........ And mine smells better.... Although I like rosemary better than sudo mint.......
So today I'm getting some groceries and I see "Rifle Shooter" magazine. One of the listed articles is about....wait for it....barrel break-in. Author is Dick Metcalf. His take on break-in is "if it's shooting good don't do it". If it's not, then do it. Seemed like a pretty straight forward approach to me. He also said that most manufacturers of high end guns use aftermarket barrels (or in-house built but to tight tolerances) and they should not require break-in....especially if they are lapped.
My gun, on order, has the 20" triple lapped barrel so I think I'm going heed his advice to a point. When I ordered it, Armalite told me that it would shoot best with 168 gr match ammo so there's my starting point. They also said that the BCG should be swimming in oil("too much is not enough" in their words) for ~200 rounds.....this is just to let the BCG settle in.
Just another data point for the mix. I'm sure that other writers might have a differing opinion.
