Would you thread this barrel for a muzzle break?

This is a 24" heavy barrel. I was looking to reduce recoil by putting a muzzle break on it. I can get the barrel threaded for 85 bucks to accomodate. What I don't want to do is have a fat hunk of metal on the end of my barrel as well reduce any shooting capacity from a permanant barrel mod. After 100rds at the range the other day, my shoulder can use the break... okay that was bad.

Sorry couldn't upload a picture for some reason

I don't personally care for muzzle brakes, but yes I'd thread it. (for suppressor use).

Looks like your bipod is backwards.

Thanks Colt. Legs fold inward on the bipod, I never did like the feel of legs folding in after each shot. :pinch:

Whatever works for you then. I couldn't use my bipod like that because I lean into it. Never had one fold from shooting though.

Being a good AFL-CIO IAM machinist I am not afraid to thread and neither should you...PROVIDED:

1) You have the proper equipment to do the job.

2) That is a critical job and must be done right or you can just grind down one end and call it a crowbar. If you have good quality equipment then go for it. You might want to practice on some round stock a couple of times, then look at a bbl that is already threaded, depth, number of threads, pitch and length.

3) If you are not in possession of the proper equipment then leave it alone and pay the $85

after looking at the picture... the bipod is on backwards. The legs should fold forward when not in use. If you push into they way it is now, they could fold in on you dropping the muzzle into the ground.

As for the muzzle break, look into the ArmaLite two port.

Thanks for the bipod point out. To clear up my last post, I am going to flip it around and try it that pointing outwards.

Not sure who will doing what, but be sure to use the center line of the rifling or I.D. do not use the O.D. of the barrel as a reference, as it may not be concentric. TIR and talk them down to $60.00 takes no more than 20 minutes.
