I agree with you on that - Vortex is one of the top names in flash hiders, AND they're very proud of their products! I was looking for a more vintage look to my AR10. I've got a couple M16/M16A1 three prong units so I might see if I can get a local machine shop to ream one out a bit and tap it for 5/8-24. There's plenty of room in between the prongs. Looks like almost enough room for a .50! I was just hoping that I could just order one instead of having to get one machined. Thanks for the input though.
I've looked at the AAC Blackout three-prong unit. Looks nice and a little less expensive than Vortex's gear but I'd still like the vintage look of a "modified" M16 three-prong unit. ANy advice or input gang?
I've got an AAC Blackout flash hider on my LR-308. I think it looks good, but it's definitely not the same as the Vietnam era three prong M16 flash hider.
I think your best bet is reaming out and re-threading the three prong flash hider you have. Either way, I'd like to see the result.
