Interesting design too. With the charging done with the bolt handle, no forward assist needed either - not that it's a common use thing but ya know, since it doesn't have one and all.
I wonder if MrRaley can shed a little light on this one??

That's exactly what I was thinking. Most companies hold them for decades. Stanley held a room full of prototype wood planes for over 100 years!
If it had some paperwork with it it might be a good investment whether it works well or not.
Great info MrRaley and thanks for squeezing in a visit. I know you've been "under the gun" so it's nice to see you stopping by to share some insight.
Damn, he has the SPR Mod 1 'I've been looking for as well.... to bad he wants $200 more than the guy on Gunbroker. That shop is about 120 miles from my Iowa home, maybe I can catch him after the holiday and see if he will deal some.
It appears The upper has been damaged, the lower part in the slide center APPEARS to be bent out...It could only be the foto, but in every foto its seen as a bulge or so it appears???????????????
It would have been my guess (originally) that this prototype was a one off manuf for someone or some company who was experimenting with a new design. This is quite common in industries that use high tec machinery that a smaller company may not have, so they approach a company that can do the work, have them sign off on 'NDA's and make them 1 or more up. In fact I have done on many occasions.
