problems chambering and light primer strikes was created by MEW
I've been having increasing issues with my AR10T, it has a Geisselle trigger, magpul PRS stock otherwise factory. it frequently ie; every few or more often the round won't chamber completely and just when you think it did, you get a light primer strike and no bang. it happens with Port. ammo, Privi match 168gr and the 175gr. it also happened with DAG. the problem has increased from when it was new. it happens on every mag I've tried (gen.2)the rifle isn't dirty, the bolt and firing pin look normal. the chamber is clean also. any suggestions on troubleshooting?

Does it do this if the original A2 stock is installed?

well I only shot it a few times with the full stock but now that you mention it, I
believe it did start this after the stock and trigger install. How would that effect
it as it uses the same tube and buffer/spring? Armalite tells me its probably an ammo
issue ie; not enough power to cycle correctly and jamming due to that. I will try
different ammo I guess. as for the light primer strikes who knows, Armalite suggested
the hammer spring in the Geissele might not be as strong as the factory but I understand
they are full power springs.

Try re-installing the factory trigger mech and see if the problem goes away.

if i understand whats happening correctly, is that every few rounds the bolt does not close fully, then you pull the trigger and the hammer closes the bolt, dimples the primer lightly but does not fire? if that is the case, then unless you are seeing light primer strikes on a fully closed and locked bolt, i think it is safe to eliminate the trigger as an issue.

when you installed the PRS, did you remember to use the shorter stock screw? check the rear of the buffer for marks.
check gas tube alignment as well, making sure its not binding on the carrier key. same with the charging handle.

i have shot a LOT of privi so i don't think it is the ammo but it could be.

thats pretty much it, except I do think its short stroking and half stripping a round which jams it up also.
but mostly not closing and light primer strikes. I'm going to give it a good look tomorrow. and yes I did use
the short screw supplied with the stock. next I'm going to find out from Geissele if they use a full power hammer
spring before I change out to the stock one. one thing at a time I guess. I don't think its the ammo either.

I have been running into the same issues. I have a brand new AR-10NM. Including the break in process I have fired about 65rds of factory ammo ranging from 150gr Winchester,150gr Russian, and a few 168gr Hornady Tap. All but the Tap I have had "light" primer strikes or failure to feed. I would say 2-3 out of a box. Coming from a high end tactical bolt, pistol, and shotgun I must say I am disappointed with the reliability of my very exspensive AR-10. With previous firearms if the gun failed me thru no fault of my own, or ammo I would get rid of it. I do take into account that this my first AR style rifle and I need to take some more time to understand the mechanics of the gun. I will do some more shooting with it and try to get a better understanding of the firearm. But I will say this, a unreliable rifle is no differant from a heavy stick, your option are limited and both will get you killed in a fire fight. Any advice would be great.

I had the same problem with my 10A4BF. 150 gr Remington and 168 gr Hornady would short-cycle the action. I had failure to chamber and failure to eject. Neither one would activate the bolt stop. 180 gr Remington works fine.

Try loading single rounds in the mag and see if they activate the bolt stop. If they don't I bet it's short-cycling.

I can't tell you if breaking it in helps or not, but I haven't had any problems since I switched to 180 gr. We just got a new 10BNMF, and next time we hit the range I might try the 150 and 168 gr ammo and see if the 10A4BF still has problems with it.

My Ar-10 has been picky as to ammo too. Didn't like brown bear at all. It does fine with DAG and Federal and my handloads using Winchester primers.

I'm disappointed it doesn't shoot everything like my AR-15s do.
