El Kid and I were getting things ready for deer season, and finally got a chance to put the new AR-10 through its paces. We topped it off with a Bushnell Elite 6500 Mil Dot, got it on paper at 100 yds, and then moved the target out to 200 yds and got serious.
The trigger has a nice crisp let-off, and I walked it in from 4" left one shot at a time. It only took four shots to nail the bull. The next three rounds were 1/2" left, 1/4" right, and dead center (same hole as the first shot).
It's been a while since I worked at that range (most shots around here are 50-75 yds) so I'm very impressed with the rifle's accuracy. Love the trigger too. I hate to say it, but the AR knocks my HK-91 into a cocked hat. I couldn't get the HK to print two shots within an inch of each other, and its trigger is, quite frankly, terrible. I am seriously considering selling the HK and getting another AR-10.
All of this shooting was done from a Caldwell Solo rest. I tried the range's Caldwell Lead Sled and, as I'm sure y'all know (and I found out), the rail interferes with the grip and mag on modern rifles. The solo has a bow-shaped rail that gets out of the way nicely. The only issue is the AR's sling swivel is too wide to go into the stock rest, and I had to pad it to keep from damaging something.
We took the A4BF and the BNMF to the range today. Here's what we shot.

We shot the BNMF two rounds at 100 yds to set it 2" low, and took a smoke break until the range went cold. Then I walked it in. Shots 6 and 7 are the same setting (good enough for me!).
I feel like the king of the bloody world! If I'd ever shot a group half this good with the HK-91 at 100 yds I'd still have it!
El Kid (chief gun cleaner and bottle washer) had the idea that wet meant the bolt was shiny. I have clued him in on exactly what "Wet" means, and now Hornaday 168 gr runs fine.
Nice shooting :woohoo: Now to get ElKido to do the same  Thats what it's all about When is Deer season down there? we are in late season doe muzleloader only here, already took mine for the year nothing special but put meat in the freazer
