I have moved this from the introductions to here since my parts will be in today, to catch up I am building a Super SASS upper with all Armalite parts with a 24" SASS barrel. I will be getting my complete NM lower in two weeks.
My Upper, SASS hanguard/gas system kit and bolt carrier group should be in today and I already have my 24" SASS/T Barrel Stainless Steel (Black Coated) from 762SASS.com and PRI Gas Buster charging handle so I will get some pictures up of everything tonight of all the components and maybe some during the build process.
Let me know of any particular pictures of the parts/process that you may want me to take.
Well I guess no one was particularly interested in my SASS upper build since there was no response to my offer to take pics during the build, anyway here is the final result with a breakdown of the parts list:
24" Super SASS bbl (SS black ceramic coating w/T bbl profile 5/8-24 threading) -$425
Armalite SASS HANDGUARD/GAS SYSTEM KIT -$485
T UPPER RECEIVER ASSY WITH FORWARD ASSIST -$319
BOLT CARRIER GROUP ASSY use w/F.ASSIST -$257
P.R.I. CHARGING HANDLE GAS BUSTER -$90
A2 FLASH SUPPRESSOR MOLY W/CRUSH WASHER KIT -$23
Total for the build not including tools needed and shipping was $1599
A 20" Super SASS upper can be had complete for $1699 from 762SASS.COM or $1814 from Armalite. I was happy to build my own and get the exact barrel I wanted plus put the extra money saved into a few tools that I can use on future builds. I made my own upper vice block and barrel vice block and learned alot about the process including torque process and order of build such as never put your flash hider on before your gas block to save any possible barrel marring on the exposed barrel because the crush washer grows in O.D. once torqued! I found the beam type torque wrench for the barrel nut to be the most comfortable because you can see where the torque level is as it comes up, you might have your gas tube aligned right at 70 ft.lbs like me. The PRI Barrel Nut Wrench for AR-10 was a great tool that I got from Midway and as a bonus it is dual purpose as it has tines for free float bbl nut on one side and tines for standard handguard bbl nut on the other side, they also had the best price and it can be had here

anyway, enough blabing here are some pics

It goes that way some times around here...though we have alot of members..they are on sporadically, with only a hand full of SASS owners...consider your self lucky...what you paid for the upper...is a little more than I paid for my whole rifle...anyway...
Just to let you know also...the prices on the home site are MSRP...I got my rifle for a C note + less than what is listed..given your local dealer as well...
Now for your build...excuse me while I get some Paper towels...need to wipe of my keyboard from the drool.....NICE JOB...I would love to have a SASS upper to go with my A4 C lower...just to extend the range...maybe then I would get a UBR too....
Again my new friend...Nice job...you got more initiative than I...I would just order one or have my Teacher Build one for me....

Thanks, I am ordering the L10BN Lower next week. I would have liked to ordered a stripped lower and put it together myself for the practice on a national match trigger but price on the complete L10BN is lower than parts! Then I will get a Magpul PRS in foliage green with a Hogue ghillie green grip. Then it is down to optics! Thinking about a Nightforce 12-42X56mm NXS, anyone out there have one?

hmm...well... ive been looking and pondering at this bbl on 762sass for almost 4 days now and waiting on email replies and everything else. i opted not to get this bbl because of the lack of info i was getting on compatibility issues as far as the adj gas system. i was told the 24" is .065 and would have to be drilled...blah blah blah. anyway, i guess i want to know if you are having any issues with cycling etc. or did you have to up the gas port size any and are you going to use it with a can or not? i went ahead and spent the extra $150 on the 20" bbl and saved myself the annoyance. i do still want to educate myself further on all the ins and outs with the adjustable gas blocks, pressures, etc. if there is a spot i can go to do some reading on all this then please let me know. very nice upper...mine would've looked about the same. lol
