I was at the range a few weeks ago, first time shooting my AR10T in over a year. I loaded a 5 round mag, pulled the trigger the first time, and 2 rounds came out the barrel - one after another. I shot again, another 2 came out. I tried a different kind of ammo, thinking it was possibly too strong. Same result - double fire. It never did more than 2 rounds. I was able to load and fire single rounds with no problems. After hte single rounds the bolt stayed open; which (may) I think rule out magazine issues.
A guy at work suggested, since I haven;t fired it in a while (I was doing a lot of Pistol shooting), perhaps I wasn't holding the trigger firm enough after the round went off, or not firm in enough in my shoulder. So, I went back to the range to day to try again. Same result - even though I held both the trigger and rifle firm enough, it still cycled 2 rounds. WHat gives?
I suspect I am in need of a gunsmith. The last time I went to the gunsmith from our club to get a new upper put on my AR10T, he looked at the gun and said, I never seen one of these before. I don't have confidence in him now to do somehting more serious. Can I send it back to Armalite to fix it?
my ar 10 t will do the same thing but only every now and then. i find if i do not press the triger fully to the rear hold it and then let off it is more prone to doubling. could also be a lack of proper sear engagment in your trigger.
