Hey Folks,

I would like to know if the stock AR-10T with the 24" barrel is capable of MOA accuracy out to 1000 yds. I'm thinking of going to the 1000 yd matches offer in the area, and would like to know if the rifle can do it, or wait and get a better rifle. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Q

Qbeam its all in the tube. I coached one of my NCOs to a 2nd at the sniper shoot with an 18" DPMS SASS that has a 9" gas tube. Lost nothing to wind lost 2 to elevation. Range to 1050yds, conditions will be your worst enemy. Pratice with a 22 LR at 200yds.MSH

:) Mechanically It 'could', but I've got a couple of books that can help you. the first is 'Precision shootin at 1,000 yards'. The one sentence that puts the new shooter in focus as to they are capable of is "that if you can reliably put 5 shots under 1/2" at 200 yards your ready for 600 yards" (and on). the second is "Hand loading for competion" this has a lot of great stuff for the 308win. for targets for starts 'Rite in the rain' Tacoma WA. supplys the US GOV with waterproof M16A2/A4 25Meter zeroing targets. You'll have no excuse not to go shooting if it's raining. Set these at 25, 100, and 200 yards. Think your hot stuff at 200yds? Set up a 25 yard (Rim Fire) target with 11 spots on it at 200yds, and put 5 shots in each target (not including the zeroing center) with out touching the white paper!
Lastly 1)Buy lots of brass (a 1,000 cases or more) from the same lot.2) Buy lots of bullets (a 1,000 of each weight)Sierra Match King is the king and the light weight is 175grs, the same as the M118(LR), then 180grs., and 190grs. And finally PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, AND PRACTICE!!!
