I've seen this on the smaller .223 or 5.56 NATO caliber, but how about for the AR-10:
Can the upper receiver be swapped out with a larger bull barrel for varmint hunting?
Staying with the standard 7.62 NATO cartridge, can the 16" carbine barrel be replaced with a longer bull barrel for Varmints? It sounds like this is doable, just may cost a lot.
From poking around at some of the manufacturers sites and the pictures here I see that some sell a varmint barrel. So, not only can you change to a 20" or 24", you can get a nice big fat barrel, or "upper".
