I have used my AR10 carbine on deer and hogs. Thinking about using it on an elk hunt with the 5 rd magazine. Has anyone out there used their AR10 on an elk hunt? Even the carbine is heavy for a stalking rifle ,but not much heavier than my model 70 in 300 winmag, which I have lugged up and down mountains for days. And I like the recoil on the AR10 so much more than the 300 WM

No I haven't but I have read reports in other places of them being used. Accept the fact that it doesn't have the energy of a 300 WM, and shot placement will need to be precise, and it should work, as long as it cycles the soft tip you choose.
