I have an older AR10 lower that I believe is to be compatible with only the AR-10B uppers. It takes the AR10 mags (modified M14 or Gen II). Not the Pmags.
I don't know if the new AR-10A uppers will work on the previously designed lowers.
The description says it's an AR10A4B upper. Does the "B" designator mean that it will still be compatible?
I understand the AR-10A is compatible with the P mags and the AR-10B takes the modified M14 mags. Maybe I'm confusing myself because the name has both the "A" and "B" designator.
If the part number starts with an "A", it will be the "A" series rifle.
Currently there are only two complete rifles in the "A" series and some spare parts floating around out there. The rifles are A10SBF and A10A4CBF.
But the upper in question that you are looking at is a "B" series upper and will fit your lower with no problems.
To break down that part number, we will do it like this...
ARM/U/10/A4/B/F
ARM = designates that it came from ArmaLite
U = Upper receiver
10 = AR-10 rifle line
A4 = Flat top upper receiver
B = Black furniture
F = Forward assist
If you look at the same upper on ArmaLites web site, the part number would be U10A4BF. Also from the part number, it tells me that it is a 20" barrel too.
