I was trying to take apart my AR-10 today. The take down pin by the trigger is butter. The take down pin by the magwell is tight, REAL right. I dropped in some oil and tried it but nothing. Any suggestions or advice?

I'd call Armalite before I took a hammer to it but mine is pretty tight as well. I have to use a plastic dummy bullet and rotate my upper some as I push hard. Either mine has gotten a little looser or my technique has improved because it doesn't seem to take as much effort since the first few times. Kind of like the cam pin.
We have a member here that sells a link so you can lock the upper in the open position for cleaning without removing the front pin. I'm pretty sure he sells on ebay as well. Another one for my Christmas list
I figure the fewer times I move the pin in and out the longer it will stay nice and tight. Seems like everything on the rifle has been nice and tight. B) If you don't experience the same just give them a call, your covered.

I have an AR-10NM and the rear pin pushes out with the use of a brass punch and some body weight applied. The front pin requires a brass punch and a couple of light taps with a hammer. Upper and lower are very tight, absolutely no slop.

The pivot pin is at the center of gravity of the rifle, so it has the mass of the BCG, bolt and barrel nut on top of it. Grasp the handguard just forward of the slip ring and and twist it back and forth while pushing on the pivot pin. That usually works or you can use a wooden or plastic dowel to push the pin out.

BINGO.....
You beat me to the "punch"...so to speak...
When the Rifles are new...they will take some effort to take them down...
My AR-10 A4C...comes apart with no issues....My M-15, with less than 500 rounds through it, still takes abit of effort to pop them loose...Just Patrice...and Do Finger Tip Push Ups.... :pinch: :silly:
Just kidding...

Yeah what they said but add to it while I have never had to use a punch I have used the butt end of a screw driver and just a light tap.

My .02 cents and hey if we keep this going you might get eought for a cup o coffe. Just saying
