I was wondering if one of ya'll would measuure the length on your 15 & 20 round AR-10 mags for me. I only have the 10s but before ordering more I would like to know the longest that I can get away with using a 6"-9" bipod. Much obliged.
The 15 is 5 in. tall and the 20 is 6 1/8 in. I find the twenty a little tight when I use that size bipod, the 15 rounder gets used the most for us when prone.

I believe the gen 2 mags are what were used from the mid nineties on, not counting the new models made for PMAGS.
In the 90's during the Clinton AWB, no new high capacity mags (11 rounds +) were allowed to be manufactured. The AR10B series was designed to use a mag based on the M14 20 round mag. Since new manufacture high cap mags were illegal, Armalite bought up M14 mags and modified them to work in the AR10B. These were problematic at best and led to reports of the AR10B being unreliable. With the sunset of the ban in 2004, Armalite was able to design and produce a better mag for the AR10B. These mags are called Gen 2 magazines by Armalite.
See I knew I would get the answer, Thanks LebbenB I was cornfused, these are the ones I odered before I shouldn't get on line and read things after a 15 hour day at work the brain gets foggy.
