Shot about 50 rounds of this stuff today and had some of tightest groups have had to date since owning this gun. Also when cleaning today, not near as much carbon in the barrel and on the bolt. This makes me happy as it is quite a bit less expensive.
What rifle are you firing bud? I also have an AR10 and I've never fired lower than 165 grains and up to 180. Does the 145 cycle well through your rifle? I'm hoping, since your name SAYS AR10 in it, that it's actually an Armalite AR10 so we are talking apples and apples rather than trying to compare with something else.
I'm liking the lighter loads however because my wife also enjoys firing this weapon and she is just little so 145s, if they will cycle ok would be a nice round to consider for us.
I've run everything between the 145's and 180's in my AR-10 and never had any issues. I can't say I noticed any difference in recoil. The only differences I've seen in ammo is in accuracy and ease of cleaning, no function issues. The 180 grain soft points get ripped up some when chambered leaving small chunks of lead behind in the action so I avoid them but they still cycled fine.
Thanks. I actually haven't had any problem with anything. 180s down to 165s and all fired and cycled very well with nothing shiney left behind at all. Even ran those Sellier and Bellot 180 grain round tips (which I actually like a lot although they are a buck a shot) and never had an issue. Accuracy does vary depending on ammo but it's like that with anything so that's to be expected.
Nice that the 145 cycled well. Cheap stuff...
The recoil hasn't been drastically different between round although it IS different for us and my wife definitely prefers the lighter loads. Since it's all 308 anyway, I figure, at least until I get her the 7.62 x 39 M15 she's been eyeballing, we'll stick with the lighter stuff for now.
She's enjoying the hell out of shooting lately so I think it's time to get her some nice weapons so Benelli and Armalite are gonna be getting some MORE business out of us just before x-mas I think...
