I checked first in the ar10's manual for directions but sadly only shows info for the basic plastic 2 piece hand guard. Also looked at youtube and couldnt find an exact video. ( also i trust you guys on here more than anyone else )
Links to past posts, vids, or a small writeup would be greatly appreciated
There should be a tech note on the subject. There may even be a link on this site somewhere but I have ArmaLite on my favorites, look in the tab at the bottom of the home page.

Here is one but there are several and I didn't read so make sure you have the correct one. You may find a video on YouTube but I'd make sure it jives with what Armalite says.
Step 8 starts by tellin me to remove the gasblock first.
I confirmed mine has the screws so ill unscrew the gas block.
Then it says to "tap the base & gas tube assembly forward until it comes free.
So after that, the only thing left should be the barrel, handguard, and handguard lock right ?
Looks like step 9 basically says to take a strap wrench and twist on the hangguard lock ring (slipring in my manual ) while yankin it forward til it comes loose.
Finally step 10 tells ya it should then all slide off and just the barrel should be left attached to the upper receiver assembly.
I dont understand step 11 but all i need is the handguard off which it is in 10.
Will post pics @ the range next week
If there is any other helpful hints or if i got something terribly bass ackwards, lemmie know
