I had a couple failure to feeds. casing got a crease at the taper. so deep on one round it cracked all the way thru. Any idea's? Not new to AR's but not a veteran of them either
150gr federal .308 soft tip. AR10TA4BF? 20" barrel. the 10 round mag it was supplied with. I admit I didn't clean it before going, just pulled the bolt carrier and lubed it up. I'm sure that's part of the problem and not my usual self to do that but I got caught off guard getting to go. Anyway, That's the info. I just never saw such damage to a casing.
I'm going to say it's the ammo. Our weapons of choice are not soft point friendly. The blunt, exposed lead tends to catch the face of the barrel extension, right on the bottom edge of the feed ramps, mucking things up.
When that heavy assed carrier comes slamming forward, it can put a crunch on anything not cooperating. I have caved in a round or 2 because I didn't fully seat the mag.
Switch to a pointier bullet and you should be trouble free.

I've never had a failure in my rifle , same thing, but I saw some pretty rough looking soft points when I inspected without firing . I did this because of the large chunks of lead I found on the magazine follower. I've stopped testing soft points since then. They were pretty accurate which I didn't understand because the bullet would get deformed and maybe pushed back a little, I never measured. I noticed afterwards that the Armalite tech notes on the web site say not to use SP ammo.
I'm betting the ammo. You can shoot a bunch with an AR-10 before maintenance is an issue, more than I've been able to afford! Take a look at a few rounds that have just been cycled, not fired and you'll be able to check me off. Best of luck, but then you don't need that with Armalite!
