So the front sight post on the A4 is .070" and the sight radius is 21.3". Assuming eye relief is a generous 2" that still means the front sight post is the same width as the target at less than 200 yds. 45/200 yd BSZ the maximum point blank range should be closer to 275 maybe even 300 yds. Why doesn't Armalite install a more appropriately sized front sight post that is the same width as a 20" target at maximum point blank.
I am referring to the common practice of using the front sight as a range finder... when the target is smaller than the post one needs to apply elevation etc.
Incidentally .050 puts the BSZ @ ~271 yds. What say you?
Well I have to admit learned something.Nobody ever told me that was common practice. I never considered using the front site as a range finder. Although, it is irrelevent for me since I am now an old fart and can't focus the front site on the target. scopes for me.
