Ya know, until people started talking about it on the internet, I never noticed the sproing. It doesn't bother me in the least but I have heard that grease in the tube will cut down on the sound. I would imagine too much could have negative influence on reliability though and I honestly can't say first hand if it even works.

I guess I never heard, or, paid attention to the sproing in My Armalite.
Next time out, I will have to see if it is evident in My rifle.It seems, I will never get this stinking ford all together so I can make it out to the range. It has been a very long time.
I have never noticed the sprong on any of my AR's. Maybe that is a benefit of being partially deaf. Thanks for the report, 10-76 keep us informed. My ejection pattern is about 12 feet as well.
