Maybe I haven't been following threads too closely. Is this an AR10? If not what is the make and the model number on the barrel? Is it used? Is it new? caliber? Where was it bought from? Is a magazine in place? If so, is it a ten round mag like a California gun would have? Might the tool just be a pointed awl to depress the center of the release? I have a lot of questions.

Is this an AR10? Yes. A4F
Is it used? No, maybe.
Is it new? Yes, supposed to be NIB, production sticker of 26 JUL 13
caliber? 7.62
Is a magazine in place? No, came w/ 1 10 rder, 1 20 rder
If so, is it a ten round mag like a California gun would have? No
Might the tool just be a pointed awl to depress the center of the release? Yes.
The mag release button/CA scenario is one thing; looks like I have to remove the trigger group to get to that assembly for replacement. However, the feed ramps and a list of other things on the rifle are more relevant. Pretty disgusting.
If I didn't know better, I'd say this was a warranty returned rifle, returned to the factory for replacement/repair. Then placed back on a shelf somewhere for sale, as SIG does with their CPO programs at a discount.
Now I can see why so many folks have what seem to be accuracy problems with their rifles: if the feed ramps leave the factory as they did with this rifle, the ammo is going into the chamber destined to fail.
Let me just double-check the brain trust here: The feed ramps should facilitate guiding the rounds from the magazine to the chamber, in the smoothest way possible? If you leave severely unfinished machining/mating surfaces there on the ramps, which the ammo is going to be pushed across, is there a positive in that I'm missing?
That does not sound good. And not what I would have expected. If I remember correctly, you waited for that rifle quite a while. I am going to be following this one with interest. I assume you are contacting Armalite. Let us know how it works out.
A post ban rifle? Didn't think they made these for awhile.... why would they?
It's not supposed to be, I bought the regular A4F, and that's what the box says....
I've been trying to communicate with ArmaLite in a Professional manner for over 5 months. I'm going to go out of my way to extend some more professional courtesy on this SNAFU, before lighting up the phone lines with other professionals.
Glad that your all taken care of now. Just happens that I was reading Shotgun news and in the new California laws article the mag release button was called a bullet button as it can be depressed easily with (special tool) the nose of a bullet. Up for vote SB-47 outlaws guns with "bullet buttons" they would be classified as "assault weapons" banning future sales requiring registration and payment of special tax. :censored:
