Well.... My totally cool new carbine should be here in a couple of days.... and I want to get some doodads for it.... I've got a nice old 1.5 to 5 Leupold I will put on it temporally till I decide on sights... I like the Armalite one piece mount on my S SASS and was thinking of getting another.. Unless you guys know of something better... I like the fact that you can mount/dismount it as an assemble quickly...... But I bet it's a little heavier than others......
I want this gun to be relatively quick to lock on target while still being a precise hitter out to 300 yards or more... I think those are reasonable parameter....... I would like it to be good in low light... I am thinking of something in the 1 to 4 or 1.5 to 5 range... With a some lamination and recital with some tic marks for hold over.... One scope I'm looking at.. Is Leupold VX-R patrol..
I would also like to be able to hang a light or laser on it....
Do want to keep it relative simple and as light as is reasonable......
Of I had my young eyes I would just use iron sights and maybe a laser or reflex sight.... But that's not the way it is anymore.......
What say you.....??
The barrel blackened looks nice on this one.....

If the rail on the gas block is lower than the rail on the receiver, a small laser should work on there nicely and it wouldn't obstruct the sight though a scope.
Well since I'm all young and my eyes are still good, I like my eotech and backup flip up irons on my AR.
I've used an acog during my time overseas, and they're really great. I was considering an acog for it, but I'd rather buy another AR for the same price.
But if I was using a scope on an AR, I think it would be good to use a laser for close and quick engagements, and the scope for everything +100yds out.
How much you want to spend is RIGHT! I just read a review of about 10 or 12 low power scopes 1-5x stuff. Can you drop $3k, in a heartbeat.
So its kinda up to you on that front. But I personally buy the low end low buck stuff. $200 buys a good scope today which means you can buy 15 of them for what a high end set up cost.
Are you a hit man or a sniper? If you go high end, if not you might want to look at A LOWER cost option and buy a new one every year for the next 15 years...
Larue Tactical mounts are the ONLY ones I have ever used that are a quick detachable mount that holds the zero. Sadly, the Armalite mount will not do that.
Troy sights,........I have started to use the 200-600m Knights Armory rear sight, nice piece!

Thank you..... Ill check these mounts out today and order them if I like them......
I was thinking of spending 400 to 700 on a scope..... I can wait awhile on it.....

Which larue mount... There are many.....?? Probably the 260 dollar buggers.... Bloody expensive little buggers........
I'm using the Burris PEPR mount and have had good luck getting it to return to zero, it took me some time to get the quick release levers set properly but once I did there have been no issue. They also have a small rail on the top ring for a laser or micro-red dot.
