kwharv,

Excuse me, I will not dignify such a posting with a response!

I will leave you with a thought;

"Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen".
Winston Churchill

I wouldn't care if he was an "Illegal Alien Muslim" as long as he beleived in limited government! I bet Winston and a few million others wish they would have stopped listening to Hitler just a bit sooner. I for one am tired of hearing how government is going to solve my problems and then watching there actions make it worse, again and again and again. It is time for radical talk and radical action.

Actually Churchill never did trust Hitler he pushed for Britains rearmament long before many thought Hitler a danger. Radical does not win elections, the majority of people in this country have a deep suspicion of radicals on either end of the political spectrum. The "lunatic fringe" has never won a major political office and people such as Nugent haven't a prayer in a major race. The problem is the republican party is now so divided in moderate, consevative, and to the right of Genghis Khan camps, a coalition may never come about with a chance of winning the presidency. Divide and conquer works in politics also.

Yes, 11b503 is exactly right. Churchill was more or less the lone historical figure who took Hitler for his word, and clearly understood the threat. He knew war with Germany was coming, and did push for rearmament. British politicians started to listen to old Winston following the invasion of Poland, after their attempts at appeasement had failed.

More importantly, Churchill's skill and determination won the day over those in the British government who favored signing an armistice with Germany, following the fall of Dunkirk. England voted, by the sway of one vote, late into the night, to continue the war. Those war records are still sealed!
Churchill is the key figure that led to the allies victory over Nazi Germany!

You are correct that many others must have wished they had not listened to
Hitler.

Some of my key criteria for candidate for the next election is:
  • They don't have their own TV show (But I did vote Palin over McCain or Obama last election)
  • They haven't openly advocated discrimination (And I so liked Herman)
  • They haven't advocated banning guns (Oops sorry Mitt) or otherwise behave like a very nice democrat
  • They haven't already failed on the national scene (Doh! Newt)
  • They don't advocate leaving every foreign democracy to be devoured by tyrannical neighbors (wrong paul)

Oh it's going to be a long 17 months... Maybe I'm too much a stickler. In the end I'll take anyone who isn't into wealth redistribution schemes and consolidation of power into the federal level, provided they aren't Bats Insane.

The point I was trying to make is that Winston stopped listening to hitler long before others, did this make him a coward for not listening? A deal made with evil is still just an evil evil.
"The "lunatic fringe" has never won a major political office and people such as Nugent haven't a prayer in a major race"
I'm sure there were many that called Lincoln a lunatic!
