Maybe I should try some humor since being serious about work seems hazardous to a GS career.............

No chance of that for me, I can't help myself. I don't have to be the best but I sure can't stop trying. I bet if I've been asked once I've been asked fifty times "Why do you care?" my answer, "Because somebody has to."
I doubt I make it to retirement here but I have no doubt I'll make some sort of difference, already saved the taxpayers my salary plus( not hard when you only make $15 an hour), I'm good with whatever comes of it.
Stupid federal government anyway...........
I used to hear why do you work so hard, why not go home at 5 like everyone else. My last 10 years in the Army it was rare that I was not in my office 7 days a week. I took less than 3 weeks leave in 10 years. Why, I was the boss and the buck started and stopped on my desk...
