You'll be shocked at how effective these are even with supersonic loads. Get those same loads subsonic and listen to bolt cycle....
In order to quiet things down a bit you'll need a solvent trap. They come in a variety of sizes so be sure to order the correct one, the video below explains everything.
I am trying to remember now, but I knew a guy WAY BACK that was making a silencer out of something I forgot, but it was amazingly effective. Its been so many years ago I long since forgot, but for sake of example it was something like a tall can like some soups come in and he was stuffing it with fiberglass insulation?????? What ever it was it was hokey and we laughed a lot, but I do remember it worked not half bad. Back in the 60's...
Just do`nt get caught with an oil filter with a booolit hole in the bottom of it and a solvent adapter on the end of the barrel. :busted: :naughty: :rotfl:
For many years I have thought of ways of a simple but affective silencer, nothing I have ever tried though.
One thought was with a Briggs and Stratton muffler, one of the short, straight through mufflers. The hole in the end being quite large would allow a lot of the gasses and noise out, but, I am sure it would be much quiter than without, on a .22 rifle that is.
They sell all the correct size "solvent traps" on ebay. They also sell " threaded caps" for Maglite flashlights, you can have a working flashlight then spin off a fitting and thread it on, something, but I wouldn't have a clue what this stuff is for  .......
