Well the trip is finally over. We left out around the 12th of Apr and it concluded today. Sure the NRA convention was Apr 25th-27th but we drove up there (2653 mi rd trip) visiting friends along the way and seeing some of the Central upper US.

We stayed with our great friends, Esther and Tom Schneider who are both very active in the NRA. Never believe for one moment the NRA is a men only party, the women play a major role and Esther certainly does: Here is the NRA video on her: www.nrawomen.tv/home/video/holding-all-t...list/featured-videos

The convention for us started on the 21st with a dinner and meeting and from there every day was full of activities from Clay shoots to a visit and luncheon at the Dallara Indy car factory ( www.indycarfactory.com ) along with some seat time in a Indy car.

Here I am getting in the Indy car, they are NOT made for guys my size!

I managed to pick up some guns while there:
My wife co-chaired the Women's Leadership Forum Luncheon along with her friend Esther. They had an auction and she managed to win Tom Selleck's (Magum PI) 1911. I like him, but not sure why she thought I would want it?

I also won at auction a Ruger AR 5.56 and the Desert Eagle 50 ( www.magnumresearch.com/Firearms/Magnum-R...-AE-Satin-Nickel.asp )

The result being, guess my AR build will be put on hold for a while.

Of note is that at the NRA-ILA meeting ArmaLite was giving away a new AR SASS (which I did not win)

I also got the opportunity to spend some time at the ArmaLite show booth and see some of the new stuff coming down the pipeline:

After speaking with AR I have a good gut feeling we will be seeing new, improved and a wider selection of ARs coming down the road. I feel quality will be as good probably better!

Along with all that there was no shortage of dignitaries at the meetings: Bobby Jindal Gov La, Rick Santorum and many, many more:

Cowboy, it looks like you and the Mrs had a great time on the road and got to do some fun stuff to boot! I'd love to hear more about the guns but I'm even more interested to hear about that 200mph ride in the Indy car!! I feel the need for speed!!

At 6'2" and 195 lbs it was all I could do to even fit in it, my knees were sticking out the top of the tub, no wonder all those drivers are skinny and near midgets. Not a big boys game. What is cool is going around corners, like a rocket ship on rails. But you Z06 is far more comfy

Nice report O`L~Cowboy.
That was a wonderfully good thing, You giving that vet Your tickets.
Even with the knees sticking out of the tub, it would be a fun drive indeed.
Maybe now, Armalite could send us over a rep again ???

We actually have a AR guy on here. He did not give me his screen name as he wants to remain under the radar but he is here, he knew me and many others on here.

Under the radar doesn't count as a rep. I would expect Armalite to stand proud, not hide in the shadows.......
What are they scared of?????????
