Its a very interesting concept, especially on that platform (M14) as it does not deal with the buffer issue like the AR.
I have become a fan of the BP design primarily for the single reason of carbine length, but target bbl accuracy. Not sure if the design lends itself to the 308 rd, its packs a wallop especially in a BP design. Having fired the IWI TAVOR in 5.56 and 9mm its a good application in that configuration.
All that said can we beg the question of...are we just soft? Dad carried a Thompson SMG, 2 100 rd mags and a 1911 for backup. Every effective in the jungles of New Guinea in the Pacific. But our boys in WWII carried the M1 and the Bruiser known as the BAR. How heavy is a BAR, shoot one on FA and note how little rise you get out of the bbl. Even in Vietnam we carried the M 60 MG, which was typically assigned to some soldier that looked like a lineman for a winning football team.
