Breaking News: Colt is buying LWRC for $60 million (UPDATED)
A well placed source just told us that Colt is buying LWRC for $60 million. The deal is supposed to close on 1 March. The Maryland company may relocate to Florida or Texas and the LWRC M6 Individual Carbine (M6IC) rifle will become a Colt branded product.
Thanks, good info, been looking at the LWRC products myself, but nixed them due to the piston tech they use. The bottom line is there is something there Colt likes and I suspect something Colt does not like. We won't know how it will shake out until Colt has it in their hands and fields it, but I like to hope Colt will improve the brand.
Also LWRC just signed a very large contract with Saudi Arabia to provide 6.8 mm caliber military arms to their army. That makes them a very attractive takeover candidate. Might see industry standardization of an AR piston system down the road because of this.
