His system (which I have used a jillion times over the years) works just as good if not better than the laser IMO. I picked up the laser since getting a bore sight on a Ruger Ranch Rifle is certainly more challenging as you cannot get a view down the bbl...bipe215 wrote: I always use SOC's method. My neighbor has a large round clock outside over his deck, probably 60 to 70 yards away. I can set up on my kitchen table and bore sight to it. It's round and almost fills the barrel sight picture. I've always been within 3 or 4 inches that way.

SOC wrote: Poor boy scope alignment.
1. Prepare rifle so you can sight down the bore (Remove bolt from bolt action, pull carrier assembly from AR etc.)
2. Place rifle/upper on rest/bags/pile of rocks with shirt laid on top...
3. Adjust whatever you placed the rifle on tell the bore is aligned with the center of the target and stabilize as best you can.
4. Sight through scope and adjust scope.
5. Repeat 3 and 4 tell your convinced your not getting any closer.
Assemble rifle and fire your first round.
You may be shocked how close you get aligning your scope like this. I am often within 3 inches of the bullseye using just a rangebag or backpack as a rest.
